How about going even a step further and putting Scripture in it's cultural, historical, geographical, and linguistic context. We as Christians have taken the Bible and tried to adapt it to our modern day context for far too long. This also twists the meaning of the text. To say that simply reading a chapter is context without knowing the history behind why a certain book or letter is being written causes us to misunderstand much of what the authors were trying to say. Much the way the Constitution is being handled in our government today.

Excellent point. I couldn't agree more that we need to keep the Bible in it's cultural, historical, etc. context. I think people do tend to read into it what's happening in their modern day lives ... and it just doesn't work that way.

Hey Ms CP,
Thanks for doing the meme. don't worry about the tagging part, some people like it and some don't. I am so there with you on the seafood and the burgers. If I ever make it up that way - we're going.
WC

C'mon over, anytime, Annie. :-)

Hey Ms CP,
I just wanted to let you know, that I was tagged to do a food meme by Michael, my version of the meme is up on Sunday and hehe, I tagged you. Just thought I'd give you a heads up.

How's things?
Annie

Thanks for the heads up! I've been a little scarce online this week. Car troubles sort of absorbed all my energy (and money!). Ugh. Heading to your site now to see. :-)

You & I seem to be cranky about many of the same things. Maybe if we turn our crankiness into prayer, God will do something about it. It's hard, though. When I get cranky, it's just a short road for me to not caring any more.

Hi, Pete ...

Thanks for stopping by. I know exactly what you mean about it being a short step from crankiness to just not really caring. I just read your comment to my daughter and she said, "Maybe the two of you should start a new blog ... Cranky Prayer Warriors R Us." ;-)

For you, Ms. CP, a whole month without being cranky would mean you weren't thinking. I should know, I'm the same way. :-)

Ms. Crankypants, As a tanjent, what do you think of the corollary between emotional intelligence and IQ?

I think there is a big connection between "common sense" or "motherwit"; however you phrase it, and the kind of basic logical thinking you mention.

And I also think that, if you were plunked down in 1935 or 1915 and had a chance to interact with people back then regularly you might soon be ssaying "these people are total idiots! How can they be so dense as to not understand the thigns everyone understood when I lived back in 2007!"
